Probably a reaction to Google intrusively asking for store reviews when you are looking for directions in Google maps.
You have to go into settings to turn that garbage off. Which they frequently turn back on after a big os update.

Almost certainly.
A lot of bad reviews are probably due to notifications pinging up after people have just walked past some place.

Google used to let you review prisons. Now those were some pretty unhinged reviews! They’ve been taken down though. Not sure if Google got wise or if ICE pushed the issue or what. Used to be funny.
