Day 6 of working on my (already written) album "Murky Mind"
Today I sang under cover of a thunderstorm and torrential rain. If ever there's a time I can stop worrying about being heard screaming into a microphone...
But this is the one thing that bums me out about the possibility of having a fully soundproof workspace: you're cut off from the outside world. If there were a way to do music, hear the birds, rain and crickets outside AND not bother your neighbors all at the same time, that's what I'd like.
I know, this is only my 6th post and I've rambled about soundproofing maybe three times now? But it's a thing. (Hell, it's the ONLY thing that's delayed this album for the past 3 and a half years... so...)
Just a couple weeks ago I saw an interview where Lindsey Jordan (Snail Mail) said she moved to the country cause she was self-conscious about her neighbors hearing her. Ratboys recorded their last album in a remote area. Softcult have a home studio. So do Hot Milk. Hell, the Rancho de la Luna studio is in the middle of nowhere Joshua Tree California and it's FAMOUS. Lots of musicians make a big effort for people to uhm... let's say... not hear their unfinished work (or get fined for making too much noise).
There's something about someone hearing you practice that's just unbearable. It's like having your boss stand over your shoulder as you work! haha
Anyway... thanks for reading this... boss! I'll have that album on your desk asap!
