You need to install an extension to reject cookies in websites that use Google Analytics

Not so fast though! You need to accept the terms of service first.

Technically uBlock is still an extension.

If you really wanted to block Google analytics without installing an extension, it could presumably be done via hosts file edits or with a custom DNS server.

Even in the most nerdy of nerdville, there are nerdier nerds than nerds can imagine. They don't run uBlock, for they run NoScript.

jackiechan00@lemmy.zip · 46 pts · 138d (5 replies)

You guys aren’t using ublock???

NannerBanner@literature.cafe · 14 pts · 137d (3 replies)

You guys aren't using noscript and blocking the analytics script from even running?

Anafabula@discuss.tchncs.de · 19 pts · 137d (2 replies)

uBlock origin blocks it from even downloading, so it can't even try to run

NannerBanner@literature.cafe · 3 pts · 137d (1 reply)

Mate, I have ublock origin, and the website still tries to run google analytics.

lazynooblet@lazysoci.al · 8 pts · 137d

But can't...

pewpew@feddit.it · 1 pts · 137d

Oh I am, I was just worried that the webstite I was visiting would still make tracking cookies. Probably the best option is Ublock + incognito mode

gabelstapler@feddit.org · 26 pts · 138d (1 reply)

So the website no longer tracks you, but the add-on tracks on which websites you've been?

voidsignal@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 138d

Yep. It's google. It's cancer

Gork@sopuli.xyz · 26 pts · 138d (2 replies)

Ooh, a printer friendly version! Let me just go ahead and print that bad boy out!

Buffalox@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 138d

My gosh, it's so rare I have a chance to use my printer, thanks for sharing. 🤣

MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip · 13 pts · 137d

Isn't a GDPR requirement opt-in by default?

DrunkAnRoot@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 137d

or disable js in your browser settings

hemmetti@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 137d

Google is bullshit.

cupcakezealot@piefed.blahaj.zone · 5 pts · 137d

javasux@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 137d

FYI PrivacyBadger

herseycokguzelolacak@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 95d

or you can just install ublock origin
