What would you call 10,000 km? Sometimes you let the original unit for a reason.

The original unit is m tho.. Mm is just such a rare unit that most don't know it, and it often gets confused with mm.

You're using the smaller unit (mg - dividing by 1000) and using a k (multiplying by 1000) to shorten a number.
