They were seen stealing money, they were caught in a hotel room. That hotel room had raspberry pis.

That doesn't directly mean they used the raspberry pis in the burglary.

The article keeps saying we have no idea how they connected the pi to the atm.

Maybe because they used stolen credit cards and ditched them or something simple.
