[Found] Book about kids in a hidden civilization with psychic powers

English, probably targeted towards middle school age readers. Fiction. I think this might have been a trillogy.

It followed a kid from a hidden civilization of people with telekinesis, who was particularly bad at using his powers, or maybe didn't have them at all.

There was a ball sport played by mentally throwing a ball into a hoop and then changing the color of the hoop to indicate that you scored.

There was also a scene where the main character's older brother(?) throws him in a river and tries to kill him, and he survives by praying for psychic powers and then telekinetically sorting the water in his lungs into hydrogen and oxygen so he can breathe.

Eventually the main character is relocated to a village of people who also aren't telekinetic, but can't go live in the wider world because they grew up not knowing how to do things manually. The leader of this village and their family secretly are psychic.

The main character and some friends break out into the wider world and see a kid with a pet tiger(?) being chased by some armed men, and then the kid turns around and disassembles their guns with their powers that supposedly nobody in the outside world has. They got them because their father raised them to believe such things were possible with a lot of slight of hand tricks.

The main character eventually decides the world would be better off without psychics and prays for everyone to lose their powers. Everyone does except him, because the god(?) in control of this isn't willing to let him throw away her gift after asking for it earlier.
