the secret is to crush 3-4 fresh lime wedges with the mint leaves. add 1/2 oz of 2:1 simple syrup and 1.5 to 2 oz of white rum. shake with ice and dirty pour (just dump everything) into a glass, topping with club soda
the oils from the lime skin really send it, vs just lime juice
I guess if you want to be fancy, you could zest a lime, add the juice of half a lime, a bunch of mint, that same .5 oz of 2:1 simple, and 2 oz white rum, hard shake and double strain onto ice, same club soda top
