Mean or average? From everything we hear across the pond, it seems the mean is lower than, say, all of the Nordics, BENELUX, Switzerland, ... And the average is held up by the 1k billionaires.

context is important. the US is the 11th wealthiest country in the world per capita.
so yes, wealthier than a third world country, but still not the wealthiest.

I blame schools.
They don't do enough to teach about the importance of the 2nd amendment.
When the founding fathers said "the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants," they meant children's blood.
