The other reply is a good answer, but also dropping a video with no context or explanation is a hallmark of content spammers and growth hackers.
Even if looking like a crappy kind of poster isn’t enough to dissuade someone from just dropping a link and fucking off, providing some context and input to how and what the link will do and what it means as a post in the particular community is a lot better behavior and starts a conversation as opposed to doing nothing.
Obviously I can only speak for myself as a non-impaired person, but I am often in spaces where I cannot listen to audio even on headphones. Also a summary is nice to get a feel if I even want to spend the time watching the video later.
I posted a video I feel is worth sharing; particularly as it is an important topic. If you feel a summary is need it then contribute it. There already is a description on what the video is about.
I looked at the hosted instances and none were working for me. The filter is a reasonable request. Being asked to write out a summary is not. I wrote the offending VPN on the tittle and a statement on what the video covers, that was still not to @Vendetta9076@sh.itjust.works standards. They are not entitled to my time to add metadata to things to their satisfaction.
Honestly, writing a summary of a video uploaded to YouTube is a very valid thing to do for any YouTube video (I am not alone with not opening links that goes to Big Tech's services). Just copy and paste the video's description, use DeepL or Offline Translator to translate it if it is not in English. Super easy to do. And if the video does not have any description, just write what the video is all about (but explains more than the title does). Doesn't have to be a long summary.
And for the Piped instances. Yes, unfortunately a lot of them are not working. That is why I installed it on my own server last year or so. But I would rather see a link to a Piped instance than a link to YouTube. That way I have a choice to switch instance. But with a link that leads to youtube.com, I need to copy the URL (if I can) or open the link and spam Esc or the X icon in hope that Google will not log anything about me. Just use piped.video (the official instance) and people will be happy. Much more privacy-friendly, too.
What description? :) You wrote the title of the video. That itself explans the topic of the video, but nothing more. We who don't opens the link wants to know in short what the video is truly about.
oh, I see. no problem. but it's easy to maintain a public instance if it is not publicly listed, and few know about it. with less traffic you are less noticeable.
I used Onavo for a short while. But the ick factor of having someone give me a service for free which I know is expensive fired off all kinds of alarm bells and I stopped using it. It’s truly evil that Facebook was just lapping up so much data and in such an anti-competitive way - Onavo was pivotal in FB buying WhatsApp for pennies on the dollar.
the good vpn is your vpn or from your trusted friends the much better when there are homelab solution than vps instead, so, sharing big thech links is not about privacy

Honest question. Why? Is it an accessibility thing?

I see. The responses to OP were pretty critical and I couldn't understand why. Now I have a bit of context. Thank you

I’m not saying this to insult you in any way, just to express my amazement:
Y’all .world mfs are built different.

Thanks? NGL the instance I landed on was incidental, but ok. I'm also stoned AF so…

If its not to your liking that is unfortunate. You can also make a comment to elaborate and contribute to the community and discussion.

Do you see the text at the bottom? Some information on what the video is about. If you prefer the video in text form consider contributing that.

Never ever post a link to YouTube in a channel that are about privacy! Link to a privacy-friendly front-end like Piped instead.

Don't bother. OP refuses to take advice and will just tell you to "do it yourself."

Yeah, I know. But wanted to say it anyway.

Anyway. I say good buy now :) Take care.

That description that is highlighted

are there any working instances nowadays? Invidious is better on that front.
weird because invidious is harder to maintain

Yes, mine, but I don't want to share the link to it.

Coupled with the fact they have turned over a private conversation regarding an abortion on messenger; they are a massive undermining of civil rights.
