how do u come up with a new username when you join a website?

do u pick something from literature, favorite movies or pop culture. Or do you come up with something on your own?

I both love that "generate life story" option, and hate that it doesn't actually generate a full-on story.

My name on here rhymes with my old account name on Reddit.

Usually, I just pull something out of my ass with the idea of it being hopefully unique. I don't think at all about the potential deeper meaning it might present.

I used the very first username I came up with for AOL for many, many other accounts, including a gmail account. I used to make accounts for every new platform that came along so I could own that name. It's unique to this day, and includes no numbers or "special characters". I can search that name and find old posts and comments I made when I wore a younger man's clothes. I don't use that name anymore, but I passed it on to my son in the Steam account I gave him over ten years ago.

I had no idea what I wanted my screen name to be, so I looked around the room for inspiration, saw a bag of charcoal, misspelled it, and added a random syllable, and there you have it
