Good morning, fellow sobernauts, IWNDWYT, đ!
We may be anonymous strangers on the internet, but we have one thing in common. We may be a world apart, but weâre here together!
Welcome to the 24 hour pledge! Iâm pledging myself to not drinking today, and invite you to do the same. Maybe youâre new to c/stop drinking and have a hard time deciding what to do next. Maybe youâre like me and feel you need a daily commitment or maybe youâve been sober for a long time and want to inspire others.
It doesnât matter if youâre still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, letâs not drink alcohol!

When I was drinking Thursdays were the only days that I would wake up not hung over because I was moderating by not drinking on Wednesdays so I could tell myself I wasn't a daily drinker. I am 125 days alcohol free today, longest I have ever not drank since I turned 21. I enjoy waking up everyday not hung over now. Don't get me wrong, I am still monster in the morning and 100% do not talk to me before my coffee, but at least I don't feel like a heaping pile of shit on top of being a monster.

Right up there with you, 126 days and counting.
Not being hungover is great. And also just that I can hop behind the wheel any time I wish or need to.
I was hoping for more cognitive rebound, but maybe that was not just the booze. Seems a lot like ADHD.

I will say that I received a diagnosis of ADHD after I'd stopped drinking and the clinician I was dealing with said that it's really common to self-medicate with alcohol and then realise something else is going on once you stop doing that.
