Crazy idea, but instead of ripping out hundreds of thousand of trees using government aid, why doesn’t the government keep the processing plants open using aid? This sounds so very f*cking backwards
I’m gonna assume it would cost to much to keep Del Monte growing. The farmers/suppliers need time to grow new crops to sell since they lost their peach buyer.

Insanity that greenbacks dictate the destruction of mature peach trees because we prioritise shareholder dividends over people eating.
