something something. dont they have those quantum theories?
In the quantum theory called the Many-Worlds Interpretation, every possible outcome exists in different branches of reality.
So when you dream something horrible and wake up relieved, it almost feels like your brain briefly experienced a different possible branch - then snapped back to the one where everything was okay.
Not actual proven physics of course... yet...

I have only lucid dreamed twice in my life. Both times I was around 18years of age. The very first time, I was dreaming I was walking down main street of my hometown. I did not have a shirt on, just a bra. I was mortified in a way ive never been. Realized I would never leave the house without a shirt, "this must be a dream". I swung up a light post and started flying, for only a few moments and I woke up.

...yet pantless, in an alleyway of some sort.
