I like piercings, except for the extreme ones. I don't like "gauging"--bigger and bigger holes--especially in the side of the mouth, no, thank you. I don't like the broader category of body modification, that make people look like aliens--things I won't mention.
My unpopular opinion in this area is I don't like tattoos, except for very small ones, maybe a memorial to a loved one, something like that.

Idk, a little belly button piercing can be very sexy IMO. I don't have them (nor tattoos) but I have eyes and a penis. 🤷

Piercings, and other body modifications, from tattoos to plastic surgery, are a way to express individualism. Hair style, and hair coloring are also body modifications, albeit less drastic in nature.
While I generally don’t support piercings for the same reasons op stated, I do for some unexplainable reason find earrings and nose rings on women to be attractive.
