Many years ago, I had a four-mile commute that took 45 minutes. There were no trains, and the buses were all stuck in the same traffic. Also, I needed my car for work as a field repair tech. Quit that job and got one with a twelve-minute commute with little traffic.

4 miles? It would have been faster to leave the car at work and bicycle, run or even walk at a fast pace.
