Low effort bulk cooking for the week

I soaked dried chickpeas and then cooked them in the electric pressure cooker. They were cooked in canned tomatoes with garam masala and veg stock.

I'm eating it with rice that a different robot made me 🤖

What's your process for the chickpeas? I've been using them in smaller amounts lately so I'm mostly using canned, but it's hard to beat the value of dried beans.

Soak for as long as I can then 40-50 mins in the pressure cooker. If it's more than say, 8 hours, I soak in the fridge. I'll also change the water if I need to leave it overnight.

I've had good luck with a short soak by adding heat. Cover with water, bring to a boil, cover, and remove from heat. Let them sit like this for an hour, drain and use immediately. You can also add a little baking soda (maybe half a teaspoon) to the soak water if you want them even softer. This helps get rid of the hard center that just doesn't want to cook all the way. Too much and they'll turn to mush, though.

i wonder, is there a benefit to soaking them instead of buying presoaked, like from a health perspective?

You have to try Koshari.

My apologies. I'll never remember that. I'll block it. Enjoy your meals everybody.

Spinach works well! Gotta eat your green leafy veg, it's good for your bones.
