I have had a lot of problems with VLC on linux, maybe the codec libraries just don’t come filled out (havent checked) but I would have a hard time reccomending it on linux.

Linux mint, ubuntu edition. I found one article that supports my theory that its a codec library issue but I can't find the correct commands to download the library.

@Elting that’s the problem with easy distros, once you get a problem you are left naked in front of the storm. Vlc is a first class citizen on KDE , but an alien on other desktop environments, try to search for the packaged version on the software manager - App Store of the distro, usually they are full
