it seems this was an A/B test on Firefox. It was one of the tests listed in Data Collection. I have now turned that shit off...

I just reset Firefox 151 on Android, ran through the setup screens, and got the ad too.

Fennec didn't add this, they just missed it when removing bloat from their fork.
