ive had a few hours in the game over the years but kerbal is somewhat difficult to grasp, is it a game where i need to visit the wiki, like with mission naming and the challenges arnt well explained..

I assume you're talking about the original, not KSP2 in early access?
You're right, it's not intuitive. Though it is extremely fun and addictive when you get into it. I would suggest watching some YouTube tutorials. The wiki is great, but personally I needed to see it in action. Scott Manley has some great videos that really helped me understand the mechanics.
Here's one I think would be good to start with: https://youtu.be/d74m3qThOoU Some small things have probably changed since that video, but the core gameplay should be exactly the same.
If you are talking about KSP2 I would suggest the same, but I haven't bought it yet so haven't watched any tutorial videos.
