DDG with AI turned off is the search engine for 2026.

Been using it for slightly over a year, I think. Hadn't encountered any major issues worth complaining about. Also, it's free, which is kind of a big deal for someone from a low income country.

Never thought I'd love to see people so hot for Bing.

Nothing wrong with Bing once you remove all the Microsoft from it.

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 97d

They're actually still collecting data from it.

Bing with no AI and no tracking isn't in itself bad, is the thing. Neither would Google be.

What google once was

Yeah ai search is garbage. It's a lie machine. Fuck everyone responsible for it.

I just used normal DDG to search 'bg3 skill build' and while the results had the pages i was looking for, the ai summary told me the basis of a bg3 skill build is 11 levels of bard and 3 levels of rogue. However the max level in game is 12.

Def gonna turn off the incorrect summary option.

Yeah turn that shit off. Easy to do, just a click or two.

And you can add that to your browser as the default search engine:

Very cool, i love it

Love your lite version:

  • no ai
  • no adds
  • no fancy buttons
  • faster, leaner
  • promoted sites only from time to time and easily identified
  • nostalgic of altavista and the likes

Too bad there's no possibility to search for images.

They could/should make a bang for that. But you can probably find browser extensions that let you do stuff like that. i use vimium, but it does a bunch of stuff you may not want.
