My homemade portable rechargeable fan, made out of scrap drone parts. I call it my little buzz buzz fan.

In these hot and trying times, I ain't trying to fall out to heat stroke ya know. It really does move a lot of air fast too..

You should add LEDs that shows the current year. Then call it Buzz Lightyear.

LOL! Too much like work, I just wanted to repurpose a dead drone for a good useful cause.

Careful with your fingers lol

What fingers?

Where we're going, we don't need fingers...

Is it very noisy? And does it go as fast as on a drone? Looks fun.

It is just as noisy as ¼ of a 4 arm/propeller drone. No speed control on this, it just runs off the raw battery voltage directly, so max speed.

I did have to flip the propeller backwards for the intended purpose, took a little modding ya know.

Since there's no blade guards, I set it up with a push button, in case anyone happens to drop it, it'll instantly shut off.

In my experience, it only takes about 30 seconds of use to cool you down to prevent heat stroke, and it lasts about 80 minutes or so of use before needing recharge.

80 minutes is crazy! Nice going.

Yeah, to be perfectly honest, I haven't quite verified 80 minutes directly, not trying to burn the motor up from such long continuous use ya know.

But I'm pretty sure it's a solid estimate, as the original drone it came from would last like ~20 minutes on a full charge, and this is only ¼ of a drone, so ~20 * 4 ≈ 80 right?

Plenty long enough to prevent me or any friends that need to use it from suffering a heat stroke...

Awesome idea, I have a left over motor arm when I crashed my Dji mini 2. I might have to whip up one of these but with a speed controller.

over_clox@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 81d

Awesome! Yeah, do what you do, but for sake of repurposing for a cooling fan, I think the speed controller bit is overkill.
