Because a rainbow profile picture doesn't change anything. It was a way to drum up sales while it was politically convenient, or at least not inconvenient, to give the appearance of allyship.
If those companies really gave a shit, they'd do more.
bro lol what, they WERE lying and pretending and people WERE right to call them out.
If a company isn't completely faking their support they'd do something of substance, possibly even at some time that wasn't during the designated gay™️ month.
There's an anarchist worker-coop cafe and bookstore in my city, you will never see them get called out for the pandering rainbow pfp bullshit because they have active LGBTQIA+ community support year-round.
We were calling them out for JUST changing their pfp with no actual changes. Instead of making those actual changes they just stopped updating their pfps.
The masks are off (though they've been off for a while, now it's just blatantly obvious), we know who the corporations care about. (Hint: It's Mr. Moneybags!)
This is ALL THE MORE REASON FOR US TO SHOW UP, SHOUT OUT, and SUPPORT our queer brothers, sisters, and fellow K-mart shoppers at EVERY opportunity.
Whatever you can do to help, doesn't matter how small or large. Anything helps. Shelter them, clothe them, feed them, support them. Love them. Be someone to confide in. Whatever helps.
Also, friendly reminder that the first Pride was a riot 🧱

There’s a decent point to be made along those lines, but that ain’t it.

I decoded it:
No company has a rainbow profile picture. They don’t give a fuck anymore.
corporate rainbow pfp is not the substantive and straight has nothing to do with heterosexual
