There's a TON of second hand baby stuff. Most of it in great shape because the kid grows out of it long before it wears out. Consumable stuff is mostly at the super market, or occasionally big box stores.
What's missing is community support most of the time. You don't have a lot of friends with kids, or don't hang out with the ones that do.

All our previous problems, high child mortality, boredom, not enough food, no easy way to travel, etc have all been inverted, we have too much food, too much entertainment, too easy to travel, …to easy to self satisfy our own needs…
Dr. Babak Ashrafi stated that he has seen a 46% increase in men under the age of 40 who have sought out his services related to erectile dysfunction in 2025 compared to the previous year. Dr Ashrafi contributed a large part of this issue to be related to excessive porn use, which can rewire men's brains and make it difficult for them to become aroused without porn or other visual stimulation.

Most of the secondhand stuff is out of date and no longer considered safe. Baby safety code changes constantly.

Pretty sure Japan has decided on population decline at this point. It will be interesting to see if that changes as the population drops.
