Why this $10 spectrometer chip could bring real-time chemical sensing to wearables

Tangentially related: I would like to wear a thin sensor band under my existing cheapo watch. I don't need a full on Bluetooth enabled smart watch most of the time (and hate charging it daily).

The thinner this tech gets, the closer we get to collecting metrics in this type of way.
