Steam machine costs $1049. What else can you buy for that money?

I don't get why people act like you can't install steam on any Linux distro.

The only thing you would be missing out on is the resume and power from controller on functions?

Can you buy a steam machine with that kind of money, I've heard they're pretty expensive?
