When Riker takes a seat he typically does so by swinging one leg over the back of the chair -- if you search Riker Manoeuvre, there's a bunch of images or clips. I think it had to do with some sort of back injury the actor had previously.
i'm sure you've seen the lucky 10,000 comic, but maybe i'm eccentric: every opportunity to learn is exciting, not embarrassing. unless you're like 30 and learning to wipe your ass. that's embarrassing.

Boimler call it out in Lower Decks / Strange New Worlds crossover as he swings a leg over the saddle in the ready room. Even funnier when you realize it was an improvised line, and Frakes was directing that episode, so he was in the room.
