"Our new policy is simple: If you, an American warrior entrusted to defend this nation, believe that the flu vaccine is in your best interest, then you are free to take it; you should. But we will not force you," Hegseth said in April.
Hegseth is a profoundly stupid person who should not be entrusted to make any decisions. He should be removed from power to spend the rest of his obscured life cleaning up litter or something similarly useful.
I saw a thing the other day comparing the first term of the admin to the second and one major thing was choosing loyalty over competence. Competent people undermine the evil/stupid policy decisions Trump makes, which is a major reason the first term wasn't so destructive. Hegseth is a perfect example of second term cabinet members being loyal and stupid.

He's just Pestilence's biggest fan, actual Pestilence would simply start another plague without stooping to political manipulation

Getting vaccinated isn't part of a political spectrum.

Right there on the top of Mount "should be". But the right took not taking vaccines into a brag/litmus test.

Doesn't mean we should feed it.

It would have been really easy for them to learn why we vaccinate large groups of people living in close quarters.
