Moldovan parliament speaker comments on draft concerning Moldova's union with Romania, tacitly adopted in Bucharest
“I called some colleagues and said: ‘Tell me, please, when we unite, it will just pass us by. Are they even prepared?’ I didn’t really see panic. I saw more smiles on people’s faces. But it was a provocation. It is a provocation, obviously,” Igor Grosu said.
“Look at who the signatory is. She is among the signatories and those who sing praises to Putin. Union is not decreed. And if you want to compromise an idea, you come up with such initiatives,” Grosu said.

True but imaging if Maia Sandu became president of the reunified country that's a member of NATO. Those Transnistrian occupiers would be sent home in a heartbeat.

It's a process. Think of it like baking. If you try to accelerate it by increasing the heat or if you try to do it fast by extracting the food too soon, you're going to ruin it. That's how sabotage can work.

Or think of it as a carton of milk in the sun. You can do it for 5 minutes but don't leave it for hours.

Why would she become president? Did they propose this?
I mean I don't see how this is bad. The only bad part is that Moldova is more russia leaning than Ro but I figure we'll sway them not the other way around.

Because she seems awesome from what I can see as an outsider and it's not like she didn't bring up the idea before:
