This isn't just a Peacock problem. This is a streaming industry problem.

If a show doesn't explode into hyperpopularity, the industry immediately discards it. However, this reckless behavior is causing viewers to mistrust that a series will ever end properly. Why bother watching when you know it's just going to get cancelled in a season or two?

Exactly this. I started watching "The Burroughs" a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed the first two episodes. It looked like it was going to evolve into a brilliant poignant horror series. Then I saw that netflix canceled it, so I didn't even bother watching the rest of the season.

This article takes a big leap when it says,

Ponies was already promised a season 2.

And then in the linked article is an interview,

And it definitely looks like we're getting Season 2? I know it's probably not been announced yet...

FOGEL: We would love it. We’re planning for one.

ISERSON: Yeah, we are planning for one. We are putting everything together to do it. But I will just be as transparent with you as I can: We do not know.

I'm also amazed how well reviewed the show is. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't anything amazing and the ending asks more questions than it answers, and not in a satisfying way.

But I would have watched a season 2 had it been made. This is a show that could have built a solid following.

It doesn’t matter how well a show is rated by critics. It has never mattered.

All that matters is how many people watch a show.
