First off, I am not denying that doing A or B or whatever will damage the regulator. I am asking because I see conflicting claims without having definitive proof myself.
I don't understand it. I see many people talk about these things like they are made with the shittiest rubber ever.
Don't store the regulator pressurized
Okay. Serious question, what about the tank reg? If you leave air in the tank, maybe 2500 psi, it can stay in there without significant impact. But when people talk about top reg that takes 800-1000 psi, it becomes you have to depressurize them before storage. Like, are they made so fundamentally different that they can fail under less extreme condition? Same idea for spring.
