Instead of foreigners, the poor , or the sick and disabled, this time the problem is the southerners, the ‘London elites which have ignored the north for too long’.
I was hoping for something positive, but everything the UK government touches is self serving and toxic, and it’s not going to stop any time soon.

Addressing the fact that a disproportionate amount of investment and power is consolidated in London and the South of England isn't the same as saying Southerners are to blame.

Investment is one thing, the apparatus of government is simply in London, and having that in one place makes sense. I’m not in London and I can see that distributing government functions will cost more, open up localised corruption, and provide no real benefit.
Any resistance to this half baked plan will be dismissed as southern people trying to control the north, I guarantee it.
