So, the drama was the drama, and I don't watch a lot of tech YouTube anymore, but both Gamers Nexus and LTT both hit the list from time to time.
Today I saw this (picture, link): https://youtu.be/-fZM9wOvbh0?t=199&is=7WPU3wo0OfXCNts6
Isn't this exactly the thing Steve called Linus out for? They were doing corrections in forum and WAN show, and Steve was saying they needed in-video edits, etc.
I find it MI that after all that it seems OK to take this stance. But maybe I'm missing something. Anyways, gave me a big frown when I saw it.

If I remember correctly, YouTube treats/treated some big time creators differently and gives them access to actually do in video edits. LTT had this access, GN did not. It's been a long time since and I'm not on my computer right now so I don't have a source, but that's my memory of it.

I don't think this is the case, as I have seen the same tooling. Maybe there's something more, but it seems to exist in the dash.

It could definitely be me misremembering. I'll see tonight if I can find it. Either way, it would be GN making that claim, so not exactly an independent source.

Yea would def be interested to know. But I don't care THAT much thus why this is "mildly" hah

No problem. I just spent a few minutes prompting Gemini and requested that it provided sources. I think it's about right, because it matches what I remember (LTT had a YT privilege to replace videos in situ, where as GN did not), but the usual AI caveats apply. Sorry if that seems low-effort, but I don't see a rule against quoting AI, and I'm not that invested in this either. (Mods: please take this down if it's against any rules).
The response it gave me at first was a bit too long for this post so I asked it to summarize, and I've added the other sources it gave me to the bottom.

No, LTT did in-video edits. They called them out because they had insane errors that could've been easily caught during editing in the first place, and their "fixes" were sometimes very unnoticeable by the viewer (just small text on the bottom correcting the information etc.).
Fmstrat@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 79d
Well yea, but my disappointment is even small text is better than putting them on a separate page no one would check.

You’re disappointed in them holding high standards for themselves? What?
Fmstrat@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 79d
Huh? Steve's (great) standards aren't what disappoints me. It's the fact that, after complaining about how others handled errors, he's basically doing it the same way now.

Not if you listen to his words, watch their videos or read the text in your screenshot.. Wanna explain what you mean? Because your post and comments are contradicting themselves
Fmstrat@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 79d
Screenshot shows GN will be posting corrections to a webpage, and not in-video, or with video replacement.
Previously GN complained about LTT posting corrections in forum and on WAN instead of in-video or with video replacement.
I'm not sure why that's had to follow...

You’re making it clear you haven’t heard their error policy, and that you are misremembering the issues raised with LTT’s editorial decisions.
The good news is you’re completely wrong. The bad news is I don’t think there’s a way to fix your issue.
Please don’t reply to me

Haha probably should have left this one alone.
