Someone told me it would be stealing from the employees to pirate this game. The same employees that get fired for trying to start a union.

jtrek@startrek.website · 52 pts · 54d

Many (most?) employees get a salary and are done. Only shareholders benefit from the long term health of the company. Most of the shareholders don't put any meaningful work into producing value.

This is one of the core injustices of capitalism. People who don't work profit.

Yeah. Stealing from the employees they say, while pushing said employees out of the window

Midnight1938@reddthat.com · 16 pts · 55d

You don’t understand, they had to push them out the window! They were stolen from!

Game sells poorly: fire half of the team

Game reaches record profit: fire half of the team, maybe the other half too

If piracy was the actual reason for not releasing on PC, then Rock-star/2K are downright idiotic considering most current consoles GTA 6 will be releasing on have exploits/jailbreaks that also allow for piracy/dumping.

Might as well just not release the game at all, that way nobody can pirate it... which seems to be the current strategy anyways

Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 54d

To be fair, that strategy has worked nearly flawlessly for over 13 years.

GTA 5 came out in 2013.

Realising that PC gamers will be a lot more discerning about graphics quality and will expect 60fps+ framerates. And they just can't do it

fartsparkles@lemmy.world · 25 pts · 54d (1 reply)

This is the real reason - same thing happened with GTA5 and RDR2. They crunched hard to hit the target platform consoles and then had to crunch again to get it working well across the various GPUs, aspect ratios, and resolutions on PC.

GTA 4 performance on PC still lags on modern hardware

PS5 (no disc drive) $600

PS5 (w/ disc drive) $650

PS5 Pro (no disc drive) $900 + $80 for disc drive add on

Xbox series S (no disc drive) $500 (512GB) - $600 (1 TB)

Xbox series x $750 (no disc drive) / $800 (w/disc drive)

samus12345@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 54d

Definitely no point in buying a PS5 with a disc drive now.

Furbag@pawb.social · 8 pts · 54d

They always release to consoles first, but I don't mind. Let the console players beta test all the imbalanced multi-player shit and then we'll get the patched version with all of the jank fixed in the PC release down the line. A better experience for more patient gamers.

oh shit I thought I was playing day 1, guess not. can't wait for this shit storm, didn't think anything could be worse than cyberpunk but here we are

uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 4 pts · 54d

Rockstar got toxic long before GTA 5, so it's been a while since I've played any Rockstar game.

30fps?

You should try GTA1. On modern hardware it runs at about 15.
