Sadly I think this will only affect consumers not creators so it's unlikely to lead to a desirable new wave.

People wouldn't be so ride or die for old.reddit.com if the regular interface wasn't so bad. I don't know why the current heads of Reddit corporate have never looked at a functional website. The fact that I don't mind Piefed or Lemmy's interface means it's not newness that I'm opposed to. It's polished turds.
