I assumed the culture would be reddit like; cross-posting links and gives credit to the original post so it's generally fine.
I'll ping them.
I also don't follow why permission would be required because effectively what I've done is tag the post with a group or community. It isn't creating any more uncontrolled copies of the content because the federated instances cache their post and provide it regardless once they have posted it.
But I have asked for permission. I will remove it upon request and I will consider this in future for OC content (I didn't realize it was OC when I reposted).

You're right on the technicalities and I wouldn't have said anything if it weren't OC, but crossposting OC just seems off to me. Maybe that's just because it's on your instance but not theirs, so it won't show up in their feeds as easily.
