Why did Iran try to help the US in Afghanistan? Considering their whole mantra is US is Evil? And we did not take it? Wouldn't that have been a very very helpful ally?

Iran is Shi'a. The Taliban is Sunni. But, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend", is a stupid saying. Joining forces with an adversary never works out the way you think it will.

False Oman is not shia and has good relation with iran, same for pakistan. Also hamas is sunni. In 98 taliban killed 11 iranian diplomat that's the real reason
