Speaking of tonkotsu ramen, Ichiran and Ippudo are world-famous, but when I posted a pic of Ichiran on Reddit a while back, I got slammed by people saying it wasn't even good.
Honestly, it just felt like they were trying to prove they were 'foodies' by hating on something popular—it’s like calling McDonald's trash. The reality is, locals in Japan still eat at these places all the time. They might not have the massive hype they used to, but the shops are still packed. It’s a shame when people try to act superior instead of just enjoying a good bowl of noodles. At the end of the day, I’m just going to keep loving what I love!

You seem upset that others don't share your taste in food, so you have created this strawman argument about "these Reddit foodies" to dismiss their opinions. Like don't get me wrong here the ramen looks fine and I'm sure it was tasty, but it feels like you are trying to claim a different type of superiority by using the "locals eat there" to prove you were right.

I never said I was right because locals eat there. I only mentioned it because some Reddit comments claimed that locals don’t eat there anymore. My point was simply that Ichiran is still genuinely popular in Japan. Whether people like it or not is entirely up to them—no food is universally loved. That said, in my experience, those kinds of comments tend to come from people who consider themselves ramen enthusiasts.

I mean you literally run a page dedicated to ramen, so you're the definition of someone who considers themselves a ramen enthusiast. It’s pretty ironic to invalidate their tastes when you're doing the exact same thing.
It just seems you are a tad bit butt hurt that you were downvoted on reddit, and it's odd you brought it up here unprompted. Just talk about the ramen - it's why people are here.

I’m using a translation tool, so I’m honestly not sure if my point is coming across the way I intended. On top of that, we come from different cultural backgrounds, so some misunderstandings are probably inevitable. For what it’s worth, I’m not even a fan of Ichiran or Ippudo.

I think I misunderstood how Lemmy works. Since I created the community, I assumed it was okay to push my own views a bit. But I’ve realized it doesn’t really work that way. Even in your own community, Lemmy doesn’t seem to be the kind of place you use like X. It feels much more discussion-oriented, though I’m still trying to figure it out.

If you're looking for something to mirror the format of Twitter, Mastodon is the federated equivalent, or Bluesky if you want to go where people actually are. Lemmy mirrors the Reddit format pretty directly.
