Those occupations should also see an increase in wages alongside it. That's the whole point. It may not be exactly 1:1 as you get further away from the floor, but if your skill is that much more valuable, it would maintain it's value to employers to keep you around

"Give me a raise or I'll go flip burgers instead since I'll make just about the same as now" would seem like a fairly reasonable thing to say to a boss in this situation imo
