The trick is to do the absolute minimal amount, but to do it daily. Then, if you feel like it on any particular day, do more. If you don´t, thats okay.
In case of workout that would be "Do exactly one pushup or similar exercise".
It´s applicable to basically anything you want to get into a habit of doing. "One minute of concentrated practice on your instrument.", "Two verses of poetry.", "Ride the bike for 100 meters.", "One line of code.", "Memorize one variant of a chess opening.", the list goes on.
Just don´t begin too many things at once. The above are only menat as examples.

it turns out 90% of magic is just creatively hiding your work through misdirection or extensive prepwork and the other 10% is straight luck.
