It is curious. Are they protecting him because a fear Israel or the US will drop a missile on him, or is he not alive ? He's not been seen in a month

Best guess is he was maimed or disfigured in an attack. That's why he's been releasing printed statements instead of video or audio or appearances.

Mojtaba Khamenei was outside of the building where the missile struck. He was likely maimed from that debris.

There is no way Iran would invent statements and put it in the mouth of a dead supreme leader
