Schrödinger was very introverted but his wife was nice and open. She dragged him with her and was his gate to the world. I like to think that he loved her above all else because of that.

He also had a live-in mistress, not to mention alleged abuse of a young girl.

Holy shit, the German news paper TAZ writes this:

Ithi Junger was 14 when Erwin Schrödinger, then 39, took advantage of his position as a math teacher and abused her. This went on for years. At 17, she became pregnant and had an abortion with catastrophic consequences. She was infertile from then on, but by that time Schrödinger had already replaced her with a new victim. Felice Krauss was 15. Annemarie Bertel was 16. He later married her, but that did nothing to change his “sexual depravity,” as Bernard Biggar put it.

“Those poor things,” Schrödinger wrote about the women and girls he had slept with. “They brought me moments of happiness in my life and caused themselves grief. That’s life.” Schrödinger recorded his sexual “conquests” in a diary. He justified his preference for young girls by saying that their innocence was the ideal counterpart to his natural genius.
