There is plenty of information online about azolla and solar power.

Right now solar has become much more accessible and cheaper, thus allowing for new synergistic combinations. A new one being the production of azolla shaded by solar panels on a large scale.

I did not know about the hypothesized Azolla event. I feel like if reproduced at scale, though, or industrialized, or otherwise deployed en masse as a climate solution, Azolla would soon fly out of control.

I'm not sure what you mean by "out of control" can you explain? Azolla still takes particular conditions to grow properly.

Rather I suppose I could envision a scenario where azolla starts multiplying unmanageably fast and causes problems.

But that is just my ignorant imagination at work. I'm not saying it's a reason not to use it.

All good, it's important to think about any aspect that may cause problems. Thanks for commenting. The type of azolla I would plan on using is actually native to the Americas so it's not invasive surprisingly. It doesn't grow well in direct sunlight and requires fertilization which is why it wouldn't spread uncontrollably.
