Just when you think FIFA's credibility cannot go lower, they find another shovel.
Balogun's red card against Bosnia & Herzegovina was arguably excessive, so the lifting of his 1-game ban should be something for American fans to celebrate. But the way in which it was done by FIFA, with interference by Trump, means the whole situation is shit for everyone involved. Any US wins in the remainder of the tournament will be forever tainted. And no team can trust FIFA to be fair in the future.
In a way, it's fortunate that the US lost to Belgium. Winning with that taint hanging over the team would have been a travesty. At the same time, watching Belgium play circles around the US Team was not fun.
