Hi all! Not sure how active this community is, but I figured I'd try. So my husband and I moved from the US to Mexico in April, and I haven't had luck in getting a remote US-based job that pays at least $1500 USD a month. I have over a year of experience in IT and over a decade in customer service. I've been mostly applying to IT jobs since that's more my passion, but I enjoy customer service as well. I feel like a lot of my applications have just been sent into the void. I'm a US citizen and I have my Mexican residency. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

Do you have US residency as well? If not, can you go to the US for a month or two and establish yourself somewhere like at a family member's or friend's address?
I hear (haven't searched in a few years) that the job market is tough right now. It will be 10x harder if you have no US residency. I'm actually in Mexico too, right now, but I still reside in the US legally. Companies simply don't want to deal with the legality and taxes of paying someone residing outside of the US.

I'm a US citizen and I guess I could use a family member's home as a US address.

I have been unemployed for close to two years coming from IT. Granted I need to make at least 4x that given my income has to cover myself and my wifes medical and she has a lot of issues.

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear about your wife. I'm starting to teach English lessons in the meantime while I continue to apply for IT. We'll see how it goes.
