"Something America actually gets right is our commitment to air conditioning and ice cubes in drinks. like yeah healthcare would be nice but my god, room temperature water is an abomination"
Part of the US is literal desert. Air conditioning was a little more than a nice thing to have in the western US tbf. Yes, healthcare would be a dream come true. Our greedy politicians will tell people "think about all those poor health insurance company employees who would lose their jobs". I say they picked the wrong careers. At least if they lose their jobs they won't bankrupt themselves with medical debt. Free healthcare is a must if our country is to heal.
I tried it when I was young.
The usual child excesses, filling the glass to the brim with ice cubes and then adding whatever beverage.
Agree with you that at first it tastes good, but soon degrades into a diluted, not very tasty anymore, kind of watery remainder.
So nowadays I prefer the "just cool the drinks really, really down" alternative, e.g. at barbecues putting the bottles in a picnic cooler filled with cool packs.
Best of both worlds.
An exception might be drinks deliberately concentrated to counter the dilution effect, like is done in the US for iced coffee, if I understand it correctly. That sounds sensible again and I might give a try!
Are you fucking dumb? Do you think ice doesn't cool water more then the standard fridge temp? That your fridge is set to 0? Do you know what the difference between between a freezer and fridge?
Jesus tap-dancing christ, please tell me this is what you think so I can have a good laugh
Oh yeah, conflating understanding of ice and freezing with Americans and capitalism is totally relationships building civility. ARE AMER6 STUPID? HAVE THE CAPITALISTS HAVE TRICKED THESE DUMB AMERICANS?!!!?
Good Lord you must jump through some mental hoops. You can openly say you think Americans are dumb, nobody is going to arrest you

You could also, you know, just put the drinks in the fridge instead consuming them watered down with water of questionable origin...

Ice is typically used with refrigerated beverages.

Interesting. So it's actually not that much about cooling, but just about diluting the content...
Capitalism at its best, I guess :-)

It changes the flavor of the water. Ice cold tastes better. You should try it sometime.

Don't know about the dumbness, but at least I keep it civil and stay away from personal insults.

Your body has to work harder to absorb cold water than it does for room temperature water. Air conditioning is where it's at tho.

That's a feature for some people.

Other than water, I don't generally enjoy most drinks, especially sweet ones; instead I enjoy beverage-flavored ice.
