By safety issues, they're talking about the existential threat of the climate catastrophe causing mass extinction, due to burning jet fuel at high altitudes, right?

Yes that's kind of the point the journalists are making, this plane doesn't have the same defenses the old ones do and therefore is less safe.

Well since it hasn’t got the safety equipment I think they just gave it a paint job and is why Trump only flew in the “safe” routes
