“In the latest push to go 100% T-Life, T-Mobile will soon no longer allow customer support reps to push through bill payments or setup autopay for customers.
This means that customers absolutely must use T-Life (or the T-Mobile website) to pay their bill moving forward.”
This was already my problem when trying to buy a phone from their store a few months back. They wouldn't swipe my card and take payment directly. I had to pay on the website or app myself and then they would give me a phone.
And they were super confused that I wanted to pay for it all up front rather than add a monthly charge to my bill
I wonder if refusing alternative payments could be legally challenged. Sort of how people might angrily pay a bill with coins and the receiving entity cannot refuse it as it is legal tender. Though I am sure they’ve crafted the TOS to shield themselves.

Generally speaking, they can't refuse cash for a debt owed. However, they can refuse to begin a transaction if it's not in their desired payment type.
Postpaid accounts requiring not-cash becomes something for the lawyers to answer.
