Strong clash off the line between Yoshinofuji and Aonishiki, who finds his preferred left hand grip and goes to pull Yoshi's head with his right. They both end up near the bales and find belt grips near the rear of each other's mawashi with Yoshi overhand. They struggle back and forth a bit with throw attempts but Yoshi ends up back at the bales facing out with Aoni behind, and Yoshi uses the grip he's had the whole time to muscle a big throw over his hip and puts Aoni on the clay. Fantastic show of strength on Yoshi's part here--it's not easy to break Aoni's balance like that.
Big slaps between Kotoshoho and Oho, who eventually shoves better and Koto exits the dohyo.
Atamifuji's thrusts are relentless as he steadily works his lumbering bulk to outposition Daieisho and keep him dancing on the edge, but Daiei finds one big parry that sends Atami sprawling.
Kirishima mostly in control as he works slap downs and parries against Takanosho. Taka has a good recovery and spins before he can get pushed out from behind but it's not fast enough to recover fully and Kiri knocks him off balance again before getting the final shove out.
Fujinokawa showing great speed off the tachiai that takes Kotozakura to the straw but the big man circles and uses his bulk on the back of Fuji's neck until he's forced to put a hand down.
Hoshoryu passes Churanoumi by after the initial clash and Churano survives a few throat thrusts before finding an underhand belt, but it's not enough to prevent the yokozuna from his own underhand right throw that breaks Churano's balance to be put down with a swift slap down.
Onosato goes for a pull down against Gonoyama but runs out of ring, so he leaps back and out but not before Gono hits the deck. Monoii determines that Onosato jumped out, putting himself in an unrecoverable position. The gyoji's fan gets overturned and Gono takes the win and the stacks of cash.
A few exciting ones today. Not sure if Onosato will stay in much longer with his 1-3.

wtf was that? it's either the slowest henka on earth, or Shishi planned to hit-and-shift but Kazuma was too slow. Either way, Shishi's cleaning up the lower ranks as he usually does when he's this low in Makuuchi, the big question is how he does once the schedulers take note and start facing him off against the higher ranks. Looks like he's up against Ryuden from Juryo tonight, so he still has a chance - Ryuden's been in Makuuchi before but he's been bouncing down to Juryo (in part because of a recent scandal).

One hell of a fight. I didn't realize this, but Yoshinofuji was 5-1 against Aonishiki, which kinda makes sense given their relative sizes and fighting styles. Amazing that Yoshinofuji was able to beat Aonishiki even after Aonishiki got his favorite left-hand grip. I didn't think Yoshinofuji'd be able to pull off that final throw.

Yeah, that's what I thought soon as I saw it. Too bad for Onosato, hopefully this'll inspire him to step back and continue healing.

Onosato Gonoyama reminds me of a similar controversial decision against Aonishiki a basho or two ago.
