After some trial and error with the positioning, I finally managed to get some nice videos with the wildlife camera on my balcony. This jay seemed to have felt particulary talkative today - never heard one do these kinds of vocalizations.

Sounds like he's mimicking a hawk or another raptor. The blue jays in my yard are little shits and like to scare off other birds from the feeders by mimicking a red-tailed hawk call perfectly.

Reminds me of a friend of mine who used to complain about a jay mimicking his cat, just so that he would put out cat food :D

Sounds similar to the blue jays we get in the southern US! Even my wife said "yup, that's a jay." 😅

Most of the jays I hear sound more like life long chain smokers

It is a young one, recently left the nest. It is calling for its parents to feed it.

Yep got their cousins trained to come and eat unsalted cashews, and since the chicks started to fly it is nonstop noise and I think to myself what the hell have I done to the balcony to my office.

They don't sound a thing like our blue jays, but they do love peanuts like them.

Thank you for catching those calls - I only ever get the raucous sqwarks!

Very sweet! Is this in Germany? I thought blue jays are only found in North America?

Yep, Germany. Forgot to put it in the description. It's a Eurasian jay :)
