A lot of interesting matches!

Shishi domination continues! He's only been fighting lower-ranked wrestlers so far, and there's a whole lot of people just one win behind him. Ya know, I kinda wonder if it's like those dog races where they have a rabbit running in front of them, to make em run faster. Yep! Shishi is the rabbit!

Ura gets out-Ura'd! (sorry Kotoeiho, the other guy's always "the guy who was fighting Ura"). Afterwards Ura was kinda still for a second. At first I thought he was just clowning, but it's possible he was not ok...

Takayasu and Oshoma fighting yard, but eventually Big Poppa's like: OK playtime's OVER!

"I love you"

"I love you NOT!"

Aonishiki does his "lean low and drag em down" move! Gyoji's on the scene to confirm that Aonishiki's elbow doesn't touch!

Kirishima beats Yoshinofuji after a fierce battle, after which Kirishima does the "safety sumo" thing and makes sure Yoshinofuji doesn't fall off the platform. Class act! I'ma say it -- that's real Yokozuna character!

Hakunofuji beats Hoshoryu in a backward trip!

And last but not least Onosato wins, by just moving forward relentlessy and making it look easy!

A lot of other bouts too of course - what's on your mind?!?

Ura injured and Ura clowning are not mutually exclusive.

an enormous rabbit 😅

nobody slaps like Takayasu does

after all we've seen, it's surprising that some rikishi still give Aoni his 'left hand belt grab' from the start. Block that hand!

Yoshinofuji let him get that grip, but Yoshinofuji still won. A couple days ago one of em (maybe Kotozakura?) was doing a good job of keeping that left hand away but one slip-up and BAM.

Tonight Aonishiki fights "yokozuna-slayer" Fujinokawa! Should be really good!

edit: ZOMG I just noticed that tonight Atamifuji battles Kotozakura! 180kg vs 176kg = "the clash of titans!"

Atamifuji battles Kotozakura!

Will the dohyo survive?

Omfg that slap from Takayasu. It was "just" a face slap but bro went flying into the next timezone. More like a face, head, neck, and spine slap.

Hakunofuji reversing Hoshoryu's leg trip attempt was just absolutely fucking sublime. Is Hosh getting too slow? He should have put his foot back on clay like 800ms earlier!

I think Hakunofuji just did an outstanding job and hit him with something unexpected.

Oho was obviously trying to repeat his previous success against Aonishiki, by pushing his shoulders up so he couldn't get that head-below-chin stance. Ao-kun clearly figured out how to counter that manoeuvre. Can anybody else figure out a way to block him from reaching yokozuna?

Really depends on how his foot injuries develop. You can see him limping after yesterday's bout.

Nobody's talking about Onosato. Is Onosato back? Do we have a real yokozuna for a change?

Sergio@piefed.social · 5 pts · 18d

As I understand it he's there, and he's even winning sometimes, but he's still got a broken shoulder which is something that you need a lot of time off to recuperate from.
